Let us pray. Almighty God, today, we mourn the death of the great man of God, Chuck Colson, who died on Saturday, who fulfilled Jesus’ command from Matthew 25, “I was in prison, and you visited me.” We pray that you continue to bless Prison Fellowship which has led millions to Christ. Though we mourn, we celebrate his life, a living portrayal of the gospel’s redemptive power, and we will remember his exhortation to the Church: “’Remain at your posts and do your duty—for the glory of God and His kingdom,’” in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Free Petition: Transgender ‘Marriage’ to get Special Immigration Status?

Almighty God, we are concerned that the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service (USCIS) has started to issue immigration documents to transgender immigrants as long as they provide “an amended birth certificate, passport, or court order recognizing their new gender; or medical certification of the change in gender from a licensed physician.” This is symptomatic of the disease of sexual immorality in the United States. Like Nineveh, our nation has become a people that “cannot tell their right hand from their left” (Jon. 4:11). Help Your people to lead this nation toward righteousness, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Almighty God, we are saddened that U.S. Air Force leaders have apparently conceded to the “Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers,” ruling that Bibles placed in Air Force lodging facilities should be removed. We pray that you would honor the faithful work of the Gideons, who have placed these free Bibles in Air Force lodges for decades. God bless our airmen who need the Truth of God’s Word. We pray that you would continue to prosper the work of the Gideons, although “there are many adversaries” against them (1 Cor. 16:9), in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Despite attempts to harm the reputation and hinder the righteous efforts of your people, we know that God “will be exalted in the earth” (Psa. 46:10), in Jesus’ name, Amen.

We pray that You will guard this young generation against the humanistic philosophies that contradict that truth about our sexual identity. We pray that every child will grow up with the understanding that marriage is between one man and one woman, and that they were created “in the image of God” (Gen. 1:27), in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Teacher, Fired for Having Bible on Desk, Appeals to Ohio Supreme Court
Let us pray. Almighty God, we thank you that the Ohio Supreme Court has agreed to hear the testimony of public school teacher, John Freshwater, who was terminated from his teaching position in 2011 for refusing to rid his classroom of religious items such as his Bible. Your Word tells us, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:10). We pray for a favorable outcome for John in this case, and we thank you that he is blessed, regardless of the outcome, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
