Garald - Suisun City, California

They just keep chipping away at the rights and freedom that I spent 21 of my best years defending. I can't beleive that it has come to this. Grow a spine, stand up for what you know is right!

Cindi - Whittier, CA

Amen

Stacey - Woodland Hills, CA

I'm not atheist nor am I follower, but I think this is wrong. But no one is saying anything about the Musliums practices.

Carmen - Chino, California

Don't you guys have better, more important things to do...such as focus on cutting expenses and curbing wasteful spending? Don't you think that this country has all these problems because we are focusing too much on what a few liberal groups want instead of what the majority wants? If you guys teach the importance of faith and religion - any kind of religion that is not radical - on the residents of your City...we wouldn't be in this mess. On your deathbed, would you not hope for salvation for your sins? May God save your souls, you poor, poor government officials.

Wendi - Sunnyvale, CA

Dear Lodi Mayor: The message is simple and clear - if you try to remove Jesus from our Cities and State, we will remove you with our votes. Most respectfully, Wendi

judie - lincoln, CA

So the atheists are offended? What about the Christians who are offended? Decades later...we are still the silent majority, I believe. But a majority nevertheless... It is very sad what is happening in America. We must speak out before it's too late!

Andrew - Hanford, CA

It amazes me that people don't understand our Constitution. Here's the First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Having a prayer before a city council meeting is NOT Congress establishing a religion. Telling a pastor he can't say 'Jesus' is abridging the pastor's freedom of speech. It also clearly states that we have freedom OF religion, not FROM religion. This isn't complicated folks, how about using some common sense? In Jesus' Name, AMEN!

Sheila - Citrus Heights, CA

I'm a believer of Jesus Christ and I'm offended. I'm tired of trying not to offend atheists and everybody else. What about believers of Jesus who are offended? Please do the right thing and allow believers to pray in the name of Jesus.

Cesar - Los Angeles, CA

As per the 1st Amendment, you cannot have freedom from religion without freedom OF religion, and censoring the right to proclaim any name in the name for/against religion or figures from it, in this case for Jesus Christ of the Christian religion, is both strongly unconstitutional and a step back for not only the residents of Lodi, California but towards all Americans as well. This country was founded upon freedom and should remain grounded upon freedom. The religious do not shove their doctrines down the throats of the secular and, since this is a two-way street we are on, the nonreligious should not force believers to live to their sole discretions neither; that would be an example of a special interest oligarchy, and last time I checked this country was a democracy and, under a democracy, any- and every-one is entitled to live and life that he or she may choose without it being threatened by an extroversive force (in this case it being the Americans United and the Freedom From Religion Foundation). "To each his/her own..." I say! [By the way, I, myself, am a nonreligious Theist aka a believer in God who does not adhere to any particular religion]

Andrea - Eureka, CA

Amen!

RENEE - SAN JOSE, CA

Keep and Protect Freedom of Speech! And the original intent of USA laws and statutes must stand forever if we want God's blessing on our nation to remain and not be completely removed.

Daniel - Hope Mills, NC

This is a country of free speech and Chrisina has the right to give thanks to Jesus.

Loren - Woodland, CA

As there are only, approximately, 14% of the population that are atheists why does the other 86% have to bow to their wishes and beliefs. It's time that the citizenry, including politicians, grew a back bone and stood up to this faction.

Janice - Long Beach, Ca

Please allow us to have freedom of speech and religion.

Linda - Fresno, CA

I'm not particularly a religious person, but enough's enough already. What's next, a clergy member will not be able to wear a clerical collar in public as not to offend anyone? Please leave christianity alone and tell the few that do get "offended" to not show up during the invocation.
